Building

Module(s): Urban Planning

You can use the Building tool to create buildings.

Note: Fills of buildings are always placed on top (i.e., in front of) other fills and thus hide them even if the Surface elements in background option is selected in Show/Hide.

To create a building

1. Click Building (How).
   

   Activate Building in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Create Terrain Urban Planning

   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   Urban Planning

   • Configuration: Landscaping/Urban Planning Urban Planning flyout
2. Click Building Rep to specify a name for the building and to define how it is displayed.
3. Click Story Def to define the individual stories of the building.
4. Define the roof shape. The procedure is the same as for the Roof Frame tool.
5. Enter the outline of the building if you have not yet done so.

Notes:

• Switch off the Color stands for pen option in Show/Hide if, in animated mode, for example, the colors of the roofs are to contrast with the building itself.
  

  Color stands for pen means that the color used to display an element on screen is associated with (and thus dependent on) the pen thickness of the element in question. Elements drawn with a certain pen (or pen thickness) are always presented on-screen with the same color, regardless of the colors assigned to the individual elements. You can specify which color represents which pen in the Options (Standard toolbar) on the Desktop environment - Pen colors page. You can switch the Color stands for pen option on and off in Show/Hide on the Standard toolbar.

• Click Change Archit. Properties to change the representation of the building.
• Click Modify Building to modify the geometry and/or the properties of the building.
• Click Extend Building to add any extensions to the existing building.
• Click Delete Building Parts to delete a part of the building you added using Extend Building.
