Entering the outline of a roof frame

Tool(s): Roof Frame

To enter the outline of a roof frame

  1. Click Roof Frame (How).
  2. Enter the outline using the polyline entry tools.

Tip: When the outline is to consist of several polygons or when you want to enter interior courtyard, select Multi in the input options.

  3. To define an overhang, enter the offset in the dialog line after you have set the first point.
  4. The polyline closes when the last point coincides with the first.
To create a rectangular outline, place a diagonally-opposite point and then finish point entry mode by pressing ESC.
  5. To cut out an area of the roof frame (for interior courtyards, for example), select Minus in the Input options and enter more polygons where you require.

Press ESC to finish entering the roof outline.

The program automatically transforms the outline you entered into a frame with vertical sides.

  6. You can now enter and apply a slope.

Note: Any existing roof planes that intersect or overlap the new roof plane are merged with it to form a single roof frame.
Slopes can be applied to each edge of the roof frame. These can also be modified.
