How to Create a Roof Frame

Module(s): General: Roofs, Planes, Sections

Start by creating the planes. Not only is the inclined roof plane at the top created; you can also change the height of the bottom plane. The design elements are then connected to the planes. Elements like slabs, walls, rafters adapt automatically, provided that their height has been set in the appropriate manner.

To fully exploit the advantages afforded by this module, try to image the roof frame you create not as a roof, but as a series of planes that you create one after the other until all the roof components are in place!

The approach for creating roof frames is always the same:

All the roof profiles in this module can be combined as desired. You do not need to create a new roof frame. All you have to do is select a different roof shape before applying more slopes to the roof edges.

You require one or more roof frames (consisting of planes) for a roof.
All the roof frames are merged to a single roof frame.

(1) Top level (2) Bottom level (3) Plan

Roof frames are created in plan view.
You can define the height of the top and bottom planes.
You can cut out areas of roof frames to design courtyards, for example.

(4) Roof slope (5) Eaves height (6) Eaves

Roof slopes can be applied to each edge (eaves) of the roof frame at any height in plan view.
