Engineering modules

Engineering family

Each of the modules in the engineering family contains tools for a specific task. When you select the Engineering family in the Tools palette and switch to a different module using the tabs, the relevant tools for the module are displayed in the Create and Change areas in the palette (see "User Interface"):

  • Draft (in the Basic Tools toolbar):
    This module contains tools for creating two-dimensional drawings.
  • 3D Modeling:
    This module contains tools for creating three-dimensional drawings.
    The Concrete construction - 3D object tool provides a convenient way of creating predefined engineering components (e.g. precast columns). You can select the components in a catalog and customize them for your needs using dialog boxes and shortcut menus.
  • SmartParts:
    This module contains tools for creating parametric 3D components you can modify and update later.
  • Basic: Walls, Openings, Components
    This module contains tools for creating three-dimensional building drawings.
  • Associative Views:
    This module contains tools for creating self-updating views and sections for 3D general arrangement drawings and 3D reinforcement drawings drawn using the 3D model. The reinforcement is created directly in the 3D floor plan and the corresponding associative views or in the 2D general arrangement drawing.
  • Shell:
    This module contains tools for creating self-updating views and sections for 3D general arrangement drawings and 3D reinforcement drawings drawn using the 3D model. Allplan places the reinforcement in the 3D floor plan.
  • Fixtures:
    This module contains tools for creating fixtures for general arrangement and reinforcement drawings.

  Engineering modules

  • Key Plan
    This module contains tools for creating and modifying key plans. The marks most commonly used in practice are provided.
  • Bar Reinforcement (in the Engineering toolbar):
    This module contains tools for placing bar reinforcement.
  • Mesh Reinforcement (in the Engineering toolbar):
    This module contains tools for placing mesh reinforcement.
  • BAMTEC (in the Engineering toolbar):
    This module contains tools for placing carpet reinforcement (BAMTEC^®).
  • Concrete Construction
    This module contains tools for creating parameterized reinforcement components. You can derive element plans from these components.
  • CEDRUS:
    This module contains tools for exchanging data between Allplan and the FEA program CEDRUS.

  Note: Open the Tools menu, select Defaults and click Cross-Section Catalogs to access self-explanatory forms for managing and updating bar and mesh cross-section catalogs.
  You can create and save reinforcement schedules using the Reinforcement Reports and Mesh Reports tools in the Bar Reinforcement, Mesh Reinforcement and BAMTEC modules.

  In addition to the Energy Consulting module, the Energy family contains the following module:

  • Thermal Insulation
    This module contains tools for defining components and areas and for calculating thermal insulation requirements. You can label surfaces as well as create legends and reports.
• Frilo Structural Analyses

  • Frilo Plate:
    This module contains tools for exchanging data between Allplan and the FE program for plates provided by Nemetschek Frilo GmbH. In addition, you can display contour lines and start the FE program straight from Allplan.
  • Frilo Disc:
    This module contains tools for exchanging data between Allplan and the FE program for discs provided by Nemetschek Frilo GmbH. In addition, you can display contour lines and start the FE program straight from Allplan.

Universal toolbars (these are toolbars with the most important tools in different modules and not focused on any specific task) are also available. These toolbars are available in all the modules, which means that you do not have to keep switching between modules in order to access them. The Engineering toolbar (see Configuration toolbars) in the predefined Engineering configuration, for example, contains the most important tools in the Bar Reinforcement, Mesh Reinforcement and BAMTEC modules.
