Splitting bars and creating coupler connection

Tool(s): Coupler, Thread, Connecting Bar

You can use the Split bars and create coupler connection tool to split bars and create a coupler connection. The couplers and accessories (if any) are created along a division line you can define freely.

To split bars and create a coupler connection

  1. Click Coupler, Thread, Connecting Bar (How).
  2. Select the required manufacturer.
  3. Select Split bars and create coupler connection on the context toolbar or click OK if this option has already been selected.
  4. Click the placement.
  5. Define the division line by entering a start point and an end point.
Use the tools in the dialog line and on the shortcut menu.
  6. To define the position of the coupler, click a placed bar (on either side of the division line).

The Selection of Articles dialog box opens and you can select a catalog. All the classes and articles that match the current parameters (e.g. diameter, bending shape) are displayed.
Clicking a manufacturer in the tree view displays information on this manufacturer in the right pane. Click Options ... to specify whether the Selection name or the Company name is displayed in the tree view.

  7. Select the relevant coupler and, in the case of the SAH thread bar coupling system, the load type and click OK to confirm the dialog box .

After having checked the boundary conditions, the program opens the Selection of Articles dialog box again. The connecting bars/thread appropriate to the diameter is/are displayed.

  8. Click OK to confirm the dialog box.

After having checked the boundary conditions again, the program splits the placed bars and adds symbols representing the coupler and the lock nut of the connecting bar or the thread to the new placements and the relevant schema bar. The relevant bar segments are lengthened or shortened so that the end of the coupler (including any accessories) and the division line are exactly the same.
The two new placements will get a new mark number if there are more placements of the original mark. Otherwise, only the connecting or threaded bars are assigned a new mark number. In this case, the label for the schema bar also includes information on the coupler type, lock nut and accessories. The modified length of the bar segment is displayed and the length including coupler appears in brackets provided Label Segment is selected.
