General information on defining patterns

Tip: In addition to the tools listed below, you can use numerous tools provided in the Draft, Advanced Draft and Text modules as well as tools on the Edit menu to create and edit pattern elements. You can access these tools via the toolbars or menu bar.

Select Pattern

You can use this tool to load a pattern for editing.

Copy Pattern

You can use this tool to copy an existing pattern to a new number.

Save Pattern

You can use this tool to save the current pattern.

Delete Pattern

You can use this tool to delete a pattern.

Pattern Width

You can use this tool to define the width of a pattern element.

Pattern Height

You can use this tool to define the height of a pattern element.

Default Pen and Color for Display of Pattern on/off

You can use this tool to define whether the pattern is drawn with the pen and color set in the defaults or with the current settings on the Format toolbar.

Enter Name for Pattern

You can use this tool to name the current pattern.

Modify Color (RGB)

You can use this tool to modify the color of pattern elements. You can choose from 256 colors from the RBG color palette (applies to line elements, too).

Bring to Front

You can use this tool to place pattern elements on top of other elements. This is particularly important when you include fills in pattern definitions.

Send to Back

You can use this tool to place pattern elements in the background of other elements. This is particularly important when you include fills in pattern definitions.

Modify Fill Region

You can use this tool to add areas to fills or to remove areas from fills.

Exit Mode

You can use this tool to exit the pattern defaults.
