Apply architectural component properties

Various modules in the Architecture family

You can use the Apply Archit. Component Properties tool to transfer properties of architectural components to other components of the same type. You can also modify the element-specific properties of architectural elements (analogous to creation method). When, for example, you click a wall, the system displays a dialog box for defining the wall parameters. The properties can only be transferred to other walls.

In conjunction with the possibilities afforded by the component axis, you can thus simultaneously convert several single-tier walls to multi-tier walls or change the thickness of walls, upstands or downstand/upstand beams – in this case the component axis serves as a reference line.

Tip: When you want to modify a single element only, you can also use Properties on the shortcut menu (analogous to creation method).

Note: If you want to modify several walls in one go and these walls contain corner windows, these windows are deleted as you go along. But if you modify the walls one after the other or if use Properties on the shortcut menu of the wall, the corner windows are retained.

Note: Elements from earlier versions (walls, upstands, downstand/upstand beams) cannot be modified together with elements created in the current version as these older elements do not have a component axis. The system will issue a warning.

To transfer properties of architectural components to other architectural elements of the same type

  1. Click Apply Archit. Component Properties (How).
  2. Click the element whose properties you want to transfer.

The dialog box with which you have created the element is displayed. The parameter settings of the element clicked are displayed in the dialog box.

  3. Set the parameters and click OK to confirm your entries.
  4. Define what the program is to do with the components' attributes:
  5. Select the elements to which you want to apply the new parameters.

Tip: The architecture filter is automatically activated for the selected element type. When you open up a selection rectangle, all elements of the desired type are found and included in the selection.

Note: If you want, you can now change the parameters of the selected element again on the Apply Archit. Component Properties Context toolbar. Allplan provides several options.

  6. Click Apply or right click in the workspace to start the operation. When you click Close or press ESC to quit the tool, all changes will be lost.
