Defining cells

You can use the Define Cell tool to define a cell for a legend.

Cells serve as placeholders for attributes. When you place a legend in the document, these placeholders are filled with the relevant values from the building model.

The topics that follow show the various options available in Define Cell; not all of the options for a cell have to be used, however.

Possible approaches for defining a cell

  1. Click Define Cell (How).
  2. On the Define Cell Context toolbar, click Border and place the border in the workspace.
  3. On the Define Cell Context toolbar, click Cell Number x and define or change the cell number.

    Tip: You can also click Mod No to change the numbers of cells that have already been defined.

  4. On the Define Cell Context toolbar, click the relevant button and specify whether the cell is to contain
  5. On the Define Cell Context toolbar, click View to get information from parent smart symbols.
  6. You can position cells that you have already placed so that they are left-aligned, right-aligned or aligned so that they are flush with the bottom edge.
  7. Click OK to confirm the entries made on the Define Cell Context toolbar.

    The cell is displayed attached to the crosshairs.

  8. You can enter the following parameters for the cell:
  9. Place the cell anywhere in your drawing file. You can use the tools in the input options to place it.
