Module(s): Basic: Walls, Openings, Components
You can use the Window SmartPart tool to create SmartParts for window openings and window sills.
SmartParts are parametric Allplan CAD objects that act according to their own inherent logic, which is independent of the CAD system. Parametric information is controlled by a script, which is attached directly to the object.
You can insert the SmartPart in window openings in linear walls. They adapt to any outline.
The SmartPart you are modeling is displayed in real time. You can save the finished SmartPart as an smv file using the Save as a favorite tool. You can also save the SmartPart in a folder of the Library palette.
Notes: In order to edit SmartParts, you can use handles (graphic modification) or a dialog box (alphanumeric modification). To modify SmartParts graphically, you can use the Modify SmartPart using Handles tool, which you can find on the shortcut menu of a SmartPart.
It is also possible to use the handles and dialog box in combination. Double-clicking the SmartPart with the left mouse button opens the properties palette of the SmartPart and displays the handles.
You can use Reports to analyze SmartParts for windows and window sills.
To model a SmartPart for a window or a window sill
Using the list box in the top part of the palette, you can specify whether you want to create a Window SmartPart or a Window Sill SmartPart.
Note: When you slowly move the cursor horizontally across the parameters, it changes to a double-headed arrow as soon as you reach the area between the parameter names and the boxes. Now you can change the width of this area.
The SmartPart is attached to the crosshairs at its drop-in point. As soon as you point to a wall opening, the preview adapts to the outline of this opening.
A copy of the SmartPart you selected last is attached to the crosshairs.
Note: Double-click the SmartPart to modify it using the palette and handles.
