Using handles for modifying Window/Door/Shading/Domed Roof-Light SmartParts

Tool(s): Window SmartPart + Door SmartPart + Shading SmartPart + Domed Roof-Light SmartPart

You can use handles to intuitively modify the parameters of Window SmartParts, Door SmartParts, Shading SmartParts and Domed Roof-Light SmartParts. Using the keyboard, you can also enter exact values in the dialog line.

To modify a SmartPart using handles

  1. Open the shortcut menu of the SmartPart whose geometry you want to change.
  2. Click Modify SmartPart using Handles.

    All the handles of the SmartPart are highlighted in all views.
    An arrow appears in the middle of the SmartPart. This arrow indicates the outside of the SmartPart. Depending on the position of the SmartPart within the opening, you can see another symbol This symbol indicates that the SmartPart is mirrored before it is placed. You can set the size and color of these symbols using the Size of CursorTips for snap points and Color of CursorTips options you can find in the Options (Default toolbar), Point snap page, Point snap representation area.

  3. Point to a handle.

    You can see names of the parameters.
    Arrows indicate the directions in which you can move the handle.
    The following illustration shows the various modification options using a door SmartPart as an example.

  4. Click a handle and move it. A ToolTip shows the current value.

  5. Click again to place the handle at a new position. All the handles appear again and you can use another handle to change the geometry of the SmartPart.
  6. Clicking a handle while pressing the CTRL key opens the Value Entry dialog box, in which you can enter values directly at the keyboard.

  7. Press the ESC key.

    The handles disappear. Now you have finished editing the SmartPart.

    If the current drawing file contains copies of the changed SmartPart, the program displays these copies in the selection color and asks whether you want to update these copies, too:
    Would you like to update identical SmartParts?
