Roof – Types

Module(s): General: Roofs, Planes, Sections

After activating the Roof Frame tool, you can select one of the following roof shapes:

Gable / hip roof

You can use this tool to create a roof frame with a slope defined by a pitch and the height of the eaves.

Start by drawing the outline of the roof frame. Then define the edges where a roof slope is to be applied.

If you click a single edge only, a hip roof is created. If you also click the edge on the opposite side, a gable roof is created. An additional hip is created for each subsequent roof plane.

Gable / hip roof using 2 points

You can use this tool to create a roof frame – like with the Gable/Hip Roof tool – whose pitch is defined by two points.

When you have defined the first roof plane, you can copy its parameters using Copy and clicking, and apply the same pitch to all the other eaves.

Barrel roof

You can use this function to create a barrel roof-shaped frame.

For this, the edges between which the barrel is to 'stretch' must be parallel.

It is also possible to create a barrel roof at an angle.
Using segments of circles, it is thus even possible to design domes.

Gambrel roof

You can use this tool to create a roof frame whose planes are folded parallel to the eaves.

The planes in the roof frame can have one or more folds. These roof slope settings can also be applied to other edges using Copy.
