Creating a gable/hip roof frame

Tool(s): Roof Frame

To define a gable/hip roof

1. Click Roof Frame (How).
   

   Activate Roof Frame in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Create Architecture General: Roofs, Planes, Sections

   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   General: Roofs, Planes, Sections

   • Configuration: Architecture Roofs and Planes flyout
2. Enter the outline of the roof as you would a polyline.
3. Click Gable/Hip Roof and enter parameters.
4. Set the height parameters.

   Note: Click Through Point to set the height of a point through which the slope will pass.
   After you have selected Through Point, the Eaves parameter no longer has any effect on the current pitch.

5. On the outline of the roof frame, click the edge(s) where you want to apply the pitch.

   Tip: If you click a single edge only, a hip roof is created.

6. When you have created all the roof profiles, press ESC to quit the tool.

   Architectural elements delimited by the roof frame and whose heights were defined as reference-plane oriented will adjust automatically to the envelope defined by the frame.
