Roof covering, parameters

Tool(s): Roof Covering

Overview of settings, preview (dialog box not expanded)

Setup, number of layers

This is where you select the number of layers (1 to 5).

Input type

Select the roof frames over which a roof covering is to be applied:

Above all roof and dormer planes
(can be entered in a single operation; dormers with a roof overhang cannot be defined)

Above fully bounded roof planes (dormers, for example, are not taken into account)
(recesses are created for dormers)

Above fully bounded roof planes only (e.g. dormers)
(dormer must be fully bounded by roof,
dormers with a roof overhang can be defined)

The different types are displayed in the preview.

Example

Position

Height of bottom level above plane

Enter the distance between the bottom of the roof covering and the roof plane (positive value = above the roof plane, negative value = below the roof plane).

Polygon entered in plan indicates position of roof covering

Specify whether the entries you make for the roof covering in plan relate to the top level or bottom level of the roof covering.

You usually know the bottom level of the roof covering (e.g. top level of rafters). Taking eaves flashing, angle and thickness of the roof covering into account, the program automatically calculates the projected position of the top level.

When you select bottom level, the position in plan may differ from the position defined by the points clicked.

Layer

Surface (animation)

You can assign custom surfaces to the roof covering or, in the case of roof covering consisting of multiple construction layers, to each layer. You can also modify surfaces you have already assigned. These surfaces appear in viewports with the Animation view type (and in the Animation module).
