You can use the Archiving sub-palette to control how layouts are archived using external programs. You can configure the interface to document management systems for your needs and requirements.
Attribute file (XML)
You can configure the program to automatically create an XML-format file during archiving. The information in this file can be used for indexing. The XML file can include the Project attributes and/or Layout attributes. In addition, it provides an overview of all attribute definitions, which makes it easier for other users to analyze and evaluate the attributes.
Only the attributes you have assigned to the project or layout can be analyzed in XML files. You can find more information on assigning project and layout attributes in the section Using attributes.
Note: When you enable Project attributes and/or Layout attributes, Allplan writes an overview of all attribute definitions to the XML file. This leads to a file size of approximately 6 MB.
Note: When neither Project attributes nor Layout attributes is enabled, Allplan does not create an XML file.
Project attributes
The attributes assigned to the project are added to the XML file.
Layout attributes
The attributes assigned to the layout are added to the XML file.
Path
Click 
to select the folder where you want to save the XML files.
Layout name + layout number
When you select this option, the name of the XML file consists of the layout name and the layout number in Allplan.
Custom + layout number
When you select this option, you can enter the first part of the name of the XML file in the data entry box. Allplan then automatically adds the layout number.
Graphics file
When archiving, you can specify whether layouts are saved as files in TIFF or PDF format.
Path
Click to select the folder where you want to save the graphics files.

When you select this option, the name of the graphics file consists of the layout name and the layout number in Allplan.

When you select this option, you can enter the first part of the name of the graphics file in the data entry box. Allplan then automatically adds the layout number.
Program call
You can select and configure the external program you want to use to archive the data. In addition, you can define more parameters to be used in conjunction with the selected program.
Apply program call
When you select this check box, the selected external program starts automatically after the files have been created. Click the button to select the program.
Parameters
You can enter up to three parameter strings, which can be used when the program specified above starts. Select the check boxes to switch on the parameters you want to use.
