Basic rules for generating carpets

You can use the Carpet Outline tool to define the size of the carpet, the unroll direction, the carpet label and the position of the carpet in the component (slab). Recesses can be taken into account. The carpet outline is created based on an initial bar, unroll direction and benching (optional).

To enter the outline of the carpet polygon

1. Click Carpet Outline (How).
   

   Activate Carpet Outline in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Create Engineering BAMTEC

   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   BAMTEC

   • Configuration: Engineering BAMTEC flyout
2. If you are working in Reinforce with 3D model mode and you have not yet created any views, you must select the view so as to assign the basic spatial orientation and create a view.
   If views already exist, click one (the Old button is active in the input options) and continue working in it. However, you can also create a new view (the New button is active in the input options) and create a new reinforcement cage with this view.
3. Enter the outline polygon or click Match in the input options to use an existing outline.
   You can also use the functions on the context toolbar to modify the outline polygon.
   

   1. Click the first point of the outline polygon in the workspace.
   2. Click the second point of the outline polygon in the workspace.
   3. Click additional points if required.
   4. Close the polygon.

   With every point you enter you can change the support depth manually.

4. Define the location of the placement in space so as to establish the relationship (distance) between the defined spatial plane and the placement (with Reinforce with 3D model only).
5. Click OK to confirm the settings.
6. Define the special placement parameters for the carpet’s boundary conditions:
   • Click Angle to define the position of the first bar and thus the unroll direction.
     

     Enter an angle here to define the position of the first bar and thus the unroll direction.

     You can:

     • Enter the value manually.
     • click an existing line to use its angle of inclination relative to the horizontal position or
     • click points to use the angle defined by the imaginary slope between these points relative to the horizontal position.
   • Click Offset to enter the distance between the first bar and the edge.
     

     Use this to set the distance between the first bar and the edge.

     The distance of the first bar parallel to the wall should not exceed 10 cm. The offset from the edge to recesses and openings should not exceed 5 cm. If necessary, additional reinforcing bars need to be placed in the placing drawing.

   • Click Lower/upper to define the carpet’s reinforcement layer.
   • Click Mark’s prefix to enter up to 4 characters of text that are to be displayed in front of the mark. You can show the unroll direction per reinforcement layer, for example.
   • Click Mark number to assign a carpet mark number to the carpet. Carpets are assigned consecutive numbers. Start with number 1 and check that the numbers match the sequence in which the carpets are placed on the building site.
     Duplicate mark numbers are not assigned. Identical carpets also get consecutive numbers.
   • Click Mark’s suffix to enter up to 4 characters of text that are to be displayed after the mark. You can enter a name for the component, for example.
   • Click Benching to define a benching value.
     

     Use this to define the benching mode within the placing polygon. The following options are provided:
     

     • Click No Benching to fit all the bars in the placing polygon without benching. This setting is represented in the toolbar by the icon.
     • Click Horizontal Benching and then the data entry field below to enter a horizontal benching value. This setting is represented in the toolbar by the icon.
     • Click Vertical Benching and then the data entry field below to enter a vertical benching value. This setting is represented in the toolbar by the icon.
7. Click OK to create the carpet polygon.
