FEA Reinforcement Color Image

Module(s): Bar Reinforcement + Mesh Reinforcement + BAMTEC

You can use the FEA Reinforcement Color Image tool to generate reinforcement interactively. Based on a fully completed FEA calculation, reinforcement progress can thus be monitored visually.
The difference between the required reinforcement percentage based on the FEA calculation and the reinforcement percentage afforded by the placements is shown in the color images.

To prepare FEA results for color update

  1. Click FEA Reinforcement Color Image (How).
  2. Select the FEA results you want to use as the basis for the reinforcement color images by selecting one of the FEA drawing files displayed in the Drawing file area.

The current FEA drawing file number or the one you selected last is displayed below Drawing file of FEA calculation. You can hide the color images by setting Display update to Off.

  3. Enter settings for the other parameters in the FEA Reinforcement Update dialog box.
  4. Confirm your entries.

You can see the windows with the FEA graphics display.

Note: The color shading of the differently covered areas is interpolated.

Boundary conditions for reinforcing bars:

Anchorage length:

The anchorage length is taken into account depending on the composite zone.

Simplified approach: stagger = slab thickness

Boundary conditions for meshes:

The inserted mesh is taken into account in the overlap area with the half of the actual reinforcement cross-section (edge reduction / anchorage lengths) and the mesh in the corners is taken into account with a quarter of the actual reinforcement cross-section.

Boundary conditions in general:

It is important that the direction of the reinforcement coincides with the direction of the FEA elements. Otherwise, no color shading occurs.
