Linear placement

Tool(s): Place Bar Shape

To place existing reinforcing bar marks as a linear placement

1. Click Place Bar Shape (How).
   

   Activate Place Bar Shape in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Create Engineering Bar Reinforcement

   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   Bar reinforcement

   • Configuration: Engineering Bar Entry and Placement flyout
2. Select Linear placement in the list box at the top in the Place Bar Shape palette.
   Click to open a dialog box that displays all the placing modes graphically.
3. If you have not selected the Reinforce with 3D model option, you can place the bars of the selected mark as points in the section view: click Point mode on in the input options.
   

   When you activate this button, the respective marks are placed as points to the section display.
   If the button is deactivated, the respective marks are placed in the selected view.

4. Select the Abc - Label option in the input options if you want to label the placements immediately after placing them by pressing ESC.
5. Select the mark to be placed by clicking a reinforcing bar or placed reinforcement. Alternatively, enter its mark number in the dialog line.
6. If neither Reinforce with 3D model nor Point mode on is active, define the view of the bending shape in relation to the placing line. In order to define the line for the viewing direction, you can find a number of drawing aids in the input options.
   

   The following drawing aids are provided in the input options to help you define the line for the viewing direction:

   Enter normal lines: draw the line as you want, there are no constraints.

   Enter at right angles: all the lines are drawn at right angles (to the system angle set).

   Enter using cursor snap: draws lines based on a cursor snap angle.

   8 Cursor Snap Angle (3-360): defines the cursor snap angle.

7. Define the placing region. The following options are available:
   • If necessary, select Align in the input options and click the first and second point of the placing line.
     If Reinforce with 3D model is active and views do not exist, you only need to define the view of the bending shape once. Alternatively, click a view if there is one.
     Define the parameters of the placing region.
     

     • Click the point.
     • Align to points using the linear snap function and click the point.
     • Define the point by making entries in the dialog line.

     Tip: The shortcut menu and dialog line provide tools and options to assist you in the process of entering points. For more information, see Tools and Options.

   • If necessary, select Align in the input options, click Match placing line to the right of Placing line and then click a bar in the placement of which you want to match the placing line. You can do this in any view. You can only match the placing line if you are working in Reinforce with 3D model mode and the placement clicked has also been created in this mode.
     Define the parameters of the placing region.
   • Select Segment in the input options and click a segment of an existing bar shape. You cannot place reinforcement along a bent segment.
     Specify the concrete cover at the start and end of the bar segment clicked, and if necessary, use Switch to change the position of the placement relative to the bar segment clicked.
     

     Same concrete cover

     When you select this check box, the program applies the same concrete cover to the start and end of the placing segment. In this case, you only need to enter the concrete cover once.

     If this check box is not selected, you can specify the concrete cover at the start and end of the placing segment individually and thus control how the placement is positioned along the placing segment.

8. If necessary, click in the Placing line or Placing segment line to define the placing line or segment again.
9. Define the reinforcement parameters and, if placement is based on the offset, the position of the placement.
   Most parameters are also displayed in the graphics area, where you can define them by clicking. The parameter area updates immediately to reflect your entries.
   

   Use this to define the distance between the outer bars in the placement and the edge of the placing polygon. The following options are provided:
   

   • - sets up the outer bars so that they are flush with the starting edge
   • - sets the outer bars at a distance you define from the starting edge
   • - sets up the outer bars so that the distance between and the starting and final edges is identical
   • - sets the outer bars at a distance you define from the final edge
   • - sets up the outer bars so that they are flush with the final edge
   • Offset to Starting Edge - enter the distance between the outer bars and the starting edge
   • Offset to Final Edge - enter the distance between the outer bars and the final edge
10. In the input options, select the type of display to be assigned to the placement.
    • Click Show all bars to display all bars in the placement
    • Click Show middle bar only to show just the middle bar
    • Click Show selected bars to show just the bars you select
    • Click Show selected bar as folded to show a bar of your choice. The program presents the various folding directions for selection. Select the desired setting by clicking.
