Automatic depth placement

Tool(s): Place Bar Shape

To place existing reinforcing bar marks using automatic depth placement

• You have created a bending shape in a 3D general arrangement drawing. To do this, you used the Bar Shape tool and selected the Reinforce with 3D model option.
• You have finished creating the bending shape by pressing ESC and placed the label, if necessary
  or
  Immediately after creating the bending shape, you selected the Label tool on the shortcut menu and labeled the bending shape
  or
  Immediately after creating the bending shape, you selected the Place Bar Shape tool on the shortcut menu.

1. Select Linear placement in the list box at the top in the Place Bar Shape palette.
   Click to open a dialog box that displays all the placing modes graphically.
2. Select the Abc - Label option in the input options if you want to label the placement immediately after placing it by pressing ESC.
3. Select the Place automatically option in the input options.

   The bending shape is placed using automatic depth placement.

   Note: When you have created the bending shape in a 3D solid, Allplan only offers to place it automatically if there is an associative view of the 3D solid from which the placing depth can be derived.

4. If you want to define a new placing region, click the button beside Placing line in the palette and click the first and second point of the placing line.
   

   • Click the point.
   • Align to points using the linear snap function and click the point.
   • Define the point by making entries in the dialog line.

   Tip: The shortcut menu and dialog line provide tools and options to assist you in the process of entering points. For more information, see Tools and Options.

5. Define the parameters of the placing region, the reinforcement parameters and, if placement is based on the offset, the position of the placement.
   Most parameters are also displayed in the graphics area, where you can define them by clicking. The parameter area updates immediately to reflect your entries.
   

   Use this to define the distance between the outer bars in the placement and the edge of the placing polygon. The following options are provided:
   

   • - sets up the outer bars so that they are flush with the starting edge
   • - sets the outer bars at a distance you define from the starting edge
   • - sets up the outer bars so that the distance between and the starting and final edges is identical
   • - sets the outer bars at a distance you define from the final edge
   • - sets up the outer bars so that they are flush with the final edge
   • Offset to Starting Edge - enter the distance between the outer bars and the starting edge
   • Offset to Final Edge - enter the distance between the outer bars and the final edge
6. If you have defined a new placing region, select the type of display to be assigned to the placement in the input options:
   • Click Show all bars to display all bars in the placement
   • Click Show middle bar only to show just the middle bar
   • Click Show selected bars to show just the bars you select
   • Click Show selected bar as folded to show a bar of your choice. The program presents the various folding directions for selection. Select the desired setting by clicking.
