Create shell

Shells can be created by either using or converting the three-dimensional shell drawing geometry. The shell drawing geometry consists of 3D elements or architectural elements.

• Use for Shell The shell drawing geometry is on a drawing file that is open in edit mode and is copied to the current drawing file as the shell. The original data is not lost.
• Convert to Shell: The shell drawing geometry is on the current drawing file or NDW file and is converted to a shell object on this document. The original data is lost.

Merge shell entities

You can use several 3D elements to make shell entities. You can specify whether these elements are to be merged to form a common shell entity or whether they are to exist as discrete shell entities in the drawing.

Add new view to an existing view

If the document already contains shell entities when you convert elements to shell entities, you can specify whether the new shell entity is to be added to one of the existing ones. Whether or not the entities touch is irrelevant.

Combining shell entities is advantageous for the creation of views and sections (see the chapter entitled "Creating Views and Sections"). This way, complex views can be created. For example, if you create a view based on a shell entity, then all the elements belonging to the shell entity in question are included.
