Create Views and Sections

Shell entities are hollow and transparent. The reinforcement is visible when they are displayed in elevation or in 3D.

Shell entities are initially visible in plan view when they are created, that is, the program automatically sets their initial view.

This view serves as the basis for further views and sections from any viewing direction. This can be done at any time during the process of editing reinforcement drawings. Sections can be converted automatically to views and vice versa.

View

A view can only represent a shell in its entirety. It represents it in a transparent manner, from the outside and from a specific viewing direction.

Section

A section can display a part of a shell entity. This is done by defining up to two clipping areas:

• The first clipping area might define the spatial depth and length of the section. It is created in any view.
• After the section has been placed in the workspace, a second clipping area can be defined in it. This might define the height of the section as it is displayed in the workspace and, possibly, a shorter length than the one defined beforehand.

If desired, clipping paths and section labels can be displayed in a manner that reflects the viewing direction. In addition, intersected edges can be displayed with boundary lines, and you can apply apply a hatching style, pattern, fill or area style to intersected areas.

Reinforcement and shell automation

Allplan can automatically optimize the manner in which reinforcement is displayed in new views and sections, as well as create the label with the corresponding dimension line. In addition, views and sections can be dimensioned automatically.
