Perpendicular through station

Module(s): Site Plan

You can use the Perpendicular through Station tool to drop perpendiculars from existing stations onto other elements, e.g., from the location line of a route onto the lines parallel to it. You can enter a transverse slope that is either constant or defined by a torsion line. Point symbols are automatically placed on the points of intersection.

To drop a perpendicular through a station

  1. Click Perpendicular through Station (How).
  2. You can use the Input Options to specify whether you want to use the Selected element in its entirety or a Part of the selected element.
  3. Click the element from whose stations the perpendicular is to be dropped. When set to Part of selected element, specify the section by clicking the start and end points or entering the station values.
You can use Delta min in the Input Options to make settings for multiple intersections.

Note: When you click points outside the element, the points on the element that are perpendicular to the points you clicked are used.

  4. Click in the workspace with the right mouse button to open the shortcut menu and select Terrain point definition to specify settings for the site plan-specific point definition.
  5. Enter a constant transverse slope as a percentage or select a torsion trace by clicking the location line and then a transverse slope trace of the torsion trace. You can automatically create a torsion trace using Label.
    Example of transverse slope
  6. Click Add line in the Input Options if you want the perpendiculars to be displayed as lines.
  7. Click the elements to which the perpendiculars are to be dropped.

Example

Note: Symbol numbers, stations/codes and other information on the individual point symbols are taken from the corresponding reference element. The point number is created in accordance with Terrain point definition. For composite elements, the secondary point number is also transferred automatically from the reference element.
