To calculate a photo

1. Activate the drawing file(s) with the model.
2. Set the desired view or perspective.
   Use one of the standard views or set a view intuitively using Navigation Mode. You can also click 3D View on the viewport toolbar and define a view in the 3D View dialog box.
3. Click Photo settings (How) and define the general display parameters: you can use this tool to specify which of the elements in the 3D model are to be displayed in the photo-realistic image, and how. The settings you make are valid for all the calculations until you change them.
   

   Activate Set Display Parameters in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Create Presentation Shadow

   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   Shadow

   • Configuration: Design Shadow and Paint flyout
4. Click Surroundings (How). Define the Position of sun, Position of north and Location. Photo lets you match the position of the sun. As opposed to animation, the program takes into account only the location and position of the sun. It ignores all the other settings.
   

   Activate Surroundings in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Change Presentation Animation

   • Toolbar: Change
   • Palette: Tools Change area in the following module(s):

   Animation

   • Shortcut menu: Navigation Mode selected - Right mouse button
5. Click Set Surface. Here, you can assign a surface color to a drawing (pen) color. As opposed to animation, the program takes into account only the colors. It ignores textures and other settings for simulating materials.
6. Click Photo.
   Start by setting the two light sources (one of these can be sunlight) and the fill-in light.
7. Specify whether the result is to be displayed on screen or saved to a drawing file.

   Note: Depending on the Photo settings, the program creates up to two drawing files per photo when you save the calculation: one drawing file with the fills and one with the edges.

8. Select the elements you want to include in the calculation.
   To calculate the entire model, click All in the Input options.
9. Depending on the settings, the program presents the resulting photo as follows:
   • As an vector image in up to two drawing files
   • As a bitmap in the Shadow calculation: result window.
10. You can now save or edit this bitmap in the Shadow calculation: result window. You can also convert it to other data formats or print it out. Use the tools on the menus:
    • File menu
    • Edit menu
    • View menu
    • Color menu
    • Bitmap menu
    • Effects menu
11. Press ESC to quit the tool.

    Note: You cannot make any entries in Allplan while the Shadow calculation: result window is open. Don’t forget to close this window after the photo has been calculated, even before running a new calculation. Press ESC or click X at top right in the viewport border.
