Photo for Sun Study

Module(s): Shadow

You can use the Photo for Sun Study tool to create a sun study based on several photos. You set a fixed view and let the sun wander. Allplan calculates photos at intervals you specify.

If you save the photos to drawing files, you can use the Create, Save File Show tool in the Paint module to combine these drawing files to create a file show. You can then present it using Run File Show.

To record a sun study

  1. Click Sun Study (How).
  2. Define the parameters for the sun study in the Photo for Sun Study dialog box.
  3. If you want to save the result of the calculation to a drawing file, select the drawing file number with which the sun study is to start in the Select file dialog box.

Note: You need a number of consecutive, empty drawing files to save the sun study. To find out how many drawing files you need, have a look at Number of drawing files in the Photo for Sun Study dialog box.
If there are not enough empty, consecutive drawing files, Allplan will issue a warning.

Note: Depending on the Photo settings, the program creates up to two drawing files per image when you save the calculation: one drawing file with the fills and one with the edges.

  4. Select the elements you want to include in the sun study.
  5. Depending on the parameters, the program presents the photos of the sun study in a separate window.
Use the Delay in sec parameter to define how long each photo is displayed.

Tip: If you want to create a file show from the drawing files of the sun study, use the surface drawing files only. You cannot include background drawing files in file shows.

Tip: The greater the distance between the eye and target point, the poorer the quality of the calculation. You can thus increase the quality of the calculation simply by reducing the distance between the eye and target point.
