Creating walls from 2D plan

You can use the Create Walls from 2D Plan tool to generate three-dimensional walls based on two-dimensional lines (with any offset). This way, you can quickly convert 2D floor plans to volumetric models.

Rules for using this tool

To automatically generate walls based on a 2D plan

• Open the drawing file with the 2D design and set it to edit mode.

1. Click Create Walls from 2D Plan (How).
   

   Activate Create Walls from 2D Plan in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Create Architecture Special: Walls, Openings, Components

   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   Special: Walls, Openings, Components

2. The following options are available for defining the parameters of the interior walls in the Create Walls dialog box:
   • Enter the number of wall types.
   • Define all the other parameters and the height of each active wall type.
     You can switch between the individual wall types under Type.

     Note: The system creates walls where the offset distance between parallel lines lies within a specific tolerance range (i.e. the offset does not have to exactly match the thickness you defined). Information on determining the wall thickness is provided under Calculating wall thickness.

3. Click OK to confirm.

   The system starts creating the walls automatically.

Note: Walls with a higher priority rating have precedence over walls with a lower priority rating.

Tip: To create several walls of the same thickness but of different materials in a building, you can use Change Archit. Properties to change the materials of the walls later.
