Fitting elements by region

Tool(s): Element for Fit

To place an element or a pattern in a region

  1. Click Element for Fit (How).
  2. Select the Element or Pattern tab.
  3. Select a defined element or pattern.
  4. Select the following placing method:
Fill region with element, pattern or sample.
  5. Click OK to confirm.
  6. Enter the region as you would a polyline.

Note: With the placing region, you have the option to divide the placement into sections.
If this is not required, press ESC to finish entering the placing region.

  7. Enter the placement rule.
  8. Place the element or pattern in the region.
  9. The Smart Fit dialog box opens.
  10. To place and fit more elements or patterns in the region, select another element or pattern.
  11. You can also switch tab to define a placement rule or place a pattern. If you want, you can also define a new pattern.
  12. Click OK to confirm the Smart Fit dialog box. All the regions that are still empty (i.e. in which no elements have been placed) are automatically displayed in the selection color. Select or cancel the selection of the regions you want to use for the next operation. You can repeat this step as often as necessary.

Note: We recommend that you use the tools in the Draft module to draw the placing regions.

Repeat the steps above until all the regions have been fitted with elements. In this case, only single placements are possible.
To place and fit elements in a new region, the dialog box needs to be closed first.
