Define Placement Rules
Tool(s): Element for Fit
The ”placement rule” lets you define the position of the individual elements relative to one another; in other words whether the joints, for example, are offset or continuous. To do this, two direction specifications or vectors are required in the region (also see example).
To define a placement rule for an element
- You have already selected an element or pattern in the Smart Fit dialog box and defined a region in which it is to be placed.
- Symbol’s base point
Place the element (a preview of the element is attached to the crosshairs) in the workspace. - Placement rule - First base point
Click the first base point.
This is the start point of the first vector with which the element is to be copied. - Placement rule - First direction point
Enter the first direction point.
3 sections are displayed. These were copied in the direction of the first vector. - Placement rule - Second base point
Enter the second base point.
A preview of the 3 elements is displayed attached to the crosshairs. - Placement rule - Second direction point
Enter the second direction point.
A preview of the original element and the copies in the direction of the two vectors is now attached to the crosshairs. - Symbol’s base point
The preview is now attached to the crosshairs at the symbol base point defined under (1).
Place the elements as you want. - The elements are placed in the region.
