Layout border

Module(s): Layout + Crop Layout

You can use the Layout Border tool to set the size and properties for the layout border and to place it. If you have logged in as the administrator or as a user with administrator privileges, you can define new formats and/or new display parameters for layout borders.

To define and place a layout border

1. Click Layout Border (How).
   

   Activate Layout Border in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Create Layout

   • Toolbar: Basic Tools Layout flyout
   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   Layout

   Crop layout

2. Make settings for the border.
3. Select in the input options, specify the Drop-in point for the border and place the predefined layout border in the workspace.

   As an alternative, select one of the following settings in the input options and create a custom layout border:

   • Based on diagonal line
   • Based on base line
   • Based on center line

Notes:

• The System Angle is taken into account when you position the layout border.
• To delete a border, click Delete and select the border as an entity group by clicking the exterior boundary line with the middle and then left mouse button. Alternatively, press and hold down the SHIFT key.
  

  An entity group is a group of elements which can be addressed as a whole. Polylines constructed in one step, for example, or symbols are entity groups. A group can be addressed as a whole by clicking one of the elements in the group with the middle and then left mouse button. Alternatively, press and hold down the SHIFT key and then click the element with the left mouse button. Elements can be combined into an entity group even while being created (with the Assign Group Number tool) or later (with the Modify Format Properties tool).

• Using the Set Up Page tool, you can select a layout border as a fixed property of the page. This border matches the size of the page and automatically updates to reflect any changes you make.
