Layout Element

Module(s): Layout

You can use the Layout Element tool to address drawing files individually or as a fileset in order to position them in the layout. You can define the scale, drop-in angle, font size, text direction, visibility settings for layers and the drawing type, if necessary.

To place layout elements

1. Click Layout Element (How).
   

   Activate Layout Element in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Create Layout

   • Toolbar: Basic Tools Layout flyout
   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   Layout

   A preview of the first file (in use) is displayed attached to the cursor.

2. Select the drawing file or fileset and set the parameters.
3. Place the layout element.
   For more information on placing layout elements so that they are congruent or aligned, see Positioning layout elements .

Note: When the Design view is selected, you can use Show/Hide (Default toolbar) to define whether the contents of the layout element, the layout element border and/or layout window border are displayed.
