Layout elements, parameters

Tool(s): Layout Element

You can make settings for the following parameters when placing layout elements:

Building structure

You can use this option to place all or individual drawing files of the Drawing file/fileset structure, Building structure or Objects derived from building structure. Clicking this icon opens the 'Select file' dialog box, which displays all drawing files that are used in the project and in the selected structure. Check the relevant boxes to select drawing files. The drawing file status is highlighted in color depending on the currently selected structure in document edit mode.
All selected drawing files are given identical parameters and placed so that they are congruent.

Fileset

You can use this option to address drawing files individually or as a fileset, in order to position them in the layout. All the filesets in the project are displayed when you click this icon. When you select a fileset, you can then select specific drawing files in it. By default, all the drawing files assigned to this fileset are selected. The drawing file status is highlighted in color.
All selected drawing files are given identical parameters and placed so that they are congruent.

Note: If you add or remove drawing files at a later stage, the layout does not update automatically to reflect these changes.

Drawing file

Lists all the drawing files used in the project. Select those you want to include in the layout. The drawing file status is highlighted in color.

Scale 1:

You can change the scale proposed by the system. Changing the scale of a fileset or of several drawing files using the Building structure affects all selected drawing files.

Angle of rotation

Rotates elements and places them.
For this the Text direction option must be active.

Font factor

The font factor applies to the character size used in the lettering of layouts.
You can specify factors between 0.01 and 1000. Entering a factor of 1 sets the same size as in the drawing file.

Text direction

When you activate the Check text direction option, text and labels in documents are placed in the layout so that they can be read from below and from the right (in compliance with DIN 1356).

Layer/print set

You can use the 'Element Visibility from Layers in Layout' dialog box to specify whether all elements of the layout element or only elements on specific layers are visible.

Drawing type

Use this to select the drawing type. When the drawing type is set to Scale definition, the line styles and area styles change with the scale.
This setting is equivalent to the definition you make in the Element Visibility from Layers in Layout dialog box, which you can open by clicking Layer/print set on the context toolbar (see above).

Note: You can use Save as a Favorite to save the settings and Load Favorite to read the settings back into the context toolbar, where you can modify them. The scale, font factor, setting of the check text direction option, setting for element visibility from layers and the drawing type are saved in the favorite file.
