Positioning layout elements

Tool(s): Layout Element + NDW Layout Element

The following options are available for positioning layout elements in a layout

• Place a point.
• To position layout elements so that they are congruent:
  Click a layout element you have already placed. Make sure that the program does not snap to a point. Otherwise, the layout element is placed at this point snapped.

  If you want to place another layout element so that it is congruent, you can also click in the workspace with the right mouse button and select Last point on the shortcut menu. This way, you do not have to quit and open the tool again.
  This is advisable when simple selection is not possible due to the large number of elements. If the previous layout element was aligned (see next option), this option is not useful.

• To position layout elements so that they are aligned i.e. congruent but displaced along an axis:
  Click a line representing the border of a layout element you have already placed. Now you can only position the layout element so that it is perpendicular to the line you clicked. If, for example, you click a vertical line, the layout element is placed in the vertical direction so that it is congruent; however, you can still move it horizontally.

  Note: You can also use this approach when moving and copying individual layout elements later. Select the Retaining coordinates button in the input options. If this button is not selected, the moved or copied layout element is always placed at the point you clicked even if this point is on the border of another layout element.
  If several layout elements are selected, the elements are always placed at the point clicked, regardless of the setting of the button in the input options.
