Combine overlapping lines

You can use the Combine Overlapping Lines tool to convert superimposed lines to single lines in all active drawing files. You can specify whether all lines, including pattern lines, are to be selected and converted, or whether pattern lines are to be excluded from the operation.

The lines are combined based on the following rules:

• In the case of several continuous lines (line type 1) of different pen thickness, Allplan retains the line of the highest pen thickness.
• In the case of several continuous lines (line type 1) of the same pen thickness but of different colors, Allplan retains the line of the lowest color number.
• Continuous lines have priority over dashed lines of any kind, regardless of the pen thickness.
• In the case of all other lines (all line types except 1), the line of the highest pen thickness has priority, regardless of the line type.

To convert multiple superimposed lines to single lines

1. Click Combine Overlapping Lines (How).
   

   Activate Combine Overlapping Lines in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Modify Draft

   • Palette: Tools Modify area in the following module(s):

   Draft

2. Use the Input Options to specify whether all lines, including pattern lines, are to be combined, or whether pattern lines are to be excluded from the operation.
3. Select the lines you want to combine.
   

   • To select a single element, click it.
   • To select elements in a region, use the left mouse button to open a selection rectangle around the elements you want to select
   • To include all the elements in the current document, click All in the Input options or press CTRL+A. Please note that this option is not available for all tools.
