Combine Congruent Lines, Circles, Polylines

You can use the Combine Congruent Lines, Circles, Polylines tool to combine lines, circles and polylines that are either partly congruent or that touch to form a single element or polyline. If the elements have different format properties (line color, for example), you can define the format properties for the new polyline. The elements must be in the same document and on the same layer.

To combine several similar elements to make a polyline

1. Click Combine Congruent Lines, Circles, Polylines (How).
   

   Activate Combine Congruent Lines, Circles, Polylines in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Modify Draft

   • Palette: Tools Modify area in the following module(s):

   Draft

2. Select the elements you want to combine.
   

   • To select a single element, click it.
   • To select elements in a region, use the left mouse button to open a selection rectangle around the elements you want to select
   • To include all the elements in the current document, click All in the Input options or press CTRL+A. Please note that this option is not available for all tools.

   When selecting elements, you can use the Filter Assistant to apply a filter based on element types and/or properties. For more information, see Filter Assistant.

   Note: You can only combine elements that are either partly congruent or that join at a point in the same direction.

3. If the elements have different format properties, the Combine Congruent Elements dialog box will open. You can define format properties for the new polyline here.

   Note: You cannot combine elements with different layer settings. The program will issue an appropriate message.
