Polyline

Module(s): Draft + Advanced Draft + Site Plan

You can use the Polyline tool to draw a polyline. You can draw a new polyline or use existing elements. The original elements are retained in the process.

To draw a polyline

1. Click Polyline (How).
   

   Activate Polyline in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Create Draft

   • Toolbar: Basic Tools Draft flyout
   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   Draft

   Advanced Draft

   Site Plan

2. You can apply a symbol to the start and/or end of the polyline.
   

   Start and end symbols can be applied to various 2D entities.

   • Select a symbol and define its size in millimeters.
   • Select the start symbol and/or end symbol by checking the relevant box(es).
   • You can change this symbol or switch it off at any time while you are drawing
3. The following options are available for entering polylines:
   • Clear the Polygonize elements check box in the input options and enter the polyline point by point. Existing elements are not taken into account.
   • Select the Polygonize elements check box in the input options and enter the polyline using the polyline entry tools.

     Tip: When you press and hold down the SHIFT key after you have placed the first point, additional points are created so that they are always orthogonal unless Enter at right angles or Enter using cursor snap is active in the dialog line.

     Tip: You can undo the entries you have made step by step by clicking Back in the Input Options.

Note: When you use the Polyline tool to draw a line consisting of several connected sections, this line is a single entity and can also be addressed as one. To draw lines consisting of separate entities, use the Line tool. For more information, see Drawing lines.
