Line

Module(s): Draft + Site Plan

You can use the Line tool to draw individual lines or lines consisting of a number of connected sections.

To draw a line

  1. Click Line (How).
  2. Specify whether you want to draw individual lines or a line consisting of several connected sections.
  3. You can apply a symbol to the start and/or end of the line.

Tip: When you draw connected line sections, it is advisable to activate the start symbol and to leave the end symbol inactive until you draw the last line section. This way, you can avoid duplicate symbols.

  4. Define the start and end point of the line.
Use the tools in the dialog line and on the shortcut menu.

Tip: When you press and hold down the SHIFT key after you have placed the first point, additional points are created so that they are always orthogonal unless Enter at right angles or Enter using cursor snap is enabled in the dialog line.

Tip: You can use Back to undo the entries you make step by step.

  5. Enter more lines or connected line sections or press ESC to quit the tool.

Note: When you use the Line tool to draw a line consisting of several connected sections, every section is a separate entity that can be modified independently of the others. All the line sections you draw in one operation are given the same group number. Consequently, the line consisting of several connected sections is an entity group, which can be addressed and modified as a whole.
To draw lines consisting of a single entity, use the Polyline tool. For more information, see Drawing lines.
