Move dimension line

Tool(s): Move Dimension Line

To move a dimension line

1. Click Move Dimension Line (How).
   

   Activate Move Dimension Line in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Modify Dimension Lines

   • Toolbar: Basic Tools Dimension Lines flyout
   • Palette: Tools Modify area in the following module(s):

   Dimension Lines

2. On the context toolbar, click Move dimension lines.
3. Select the dimension lines you want to move.
   

   • To select a single element, click it.
   • To select elements in a region, use the left mouse button to open a selection rectangle around the elements you want to select
   • To include all the elements in the current document, click All in the Input options or press CTRL+A. Please note that this option is not available for all tools.

   When selecting elements, you can use the Filter Assistant to apply a filter based on element types and/or properties. For more information, see Filter Assistant.

   Note: When you have selected dimension lines which are not parallel, the following message is displayed in the dialog line: The dimension lines you have selected are not parallel – click critical dimension line. Click a dimension line. Now only the dimension lines that are parallel to the one you have clicked are selected.

4. Now you can make the following settings on the Context toolbar:
   • Lock extension line length option enabled: the length of the extension lines remains constant as their end points are also moved.
   • Lock extension line length option disabled: the length of the extension lines changes as their end points are not moved.
5. Specify From point.
6. Enter the new position of the dimension lines in one of the following ways:
   • Click in the workspace.
   • Enter the offset distance to the new dimension line and click to indicate which direction you want to move it.
