Cut 3D

3D QuickSketch

You can use this tool to intersect any objects with an open or closed sketch. This is done so that the section is perpendicular to the surface on which you start drawing the sketch. This process creates a new solid which can be moved or deleted, for example.

To intersect 3D object with a sketch

1. Press and hold down the ALT key and click with the left mouse button in the workspace.
2. Select the Cut 3D mode.
3. Enter the outline based on an existing surface of a 3D object.
4. Do the following:
   • To make an object intersect an open sketch, press and hold down the ALT key and use the mouse to draw any line across the solid. The start and end points of the line have to be outside the solid.
     When you press and hold down the ALT and CTRL key, you cut along a line between the start and end points of the sketch.
   • To create an outline of any shape, press and hold down the ALT key and use the mouse to enter the outline based on an existing surface.
     The outline is displayed in green.
   • To create a circular or linear outline or an outline parallel to the coordinate planes, press and hold down the ALT and CTRL keys and use the mouse to enter the outline based on an existing surface .
     The outline is displayed in blue.

     The solid is cut and its extents are perpendicular to the relevant surface. Intersecting with a closed outline creates a new solid which can be moved or deleted, for example.
