Importing routes

In order to import routes, you can import external files of specific file types. You can create these files using Allplan or other programs. In addition, you can use ASCII files created manually. To make sure that the files are imported correctly, the values in these files must be described correctly. This in particular applies to *.reb files, which do often not contain blanks between the values of the two last columns.

The following examples show correct import files for the individual file types:

Note: The reb, re1 and re2 files contain the same route (in plan).
The lpr file describes the route profile. The first column contains the stationing; the second column contains the corresponding elevation spec.

To import a route

1. Click Import Route on the Route toolbar or File menu.
2. Select the file name of a route, which you have created and saved in the Site Plan module, for example. Specify the relevant file type.

   Note: Specify the file type before selecting the file. So you can use the file type as a filter.

3. Select the Create station points automatically option and enter the Station point offset if you have not yet created stations.

   Note: The program automatically creates station points at the start and end of the route and at the following transition points: line – clothoid, clothoid – arc and line – arc.

4. Specify where you want to insert the route and enter a name for it.

   Note: You can also import a route profile later by selecting the Import profile section of route into current route option.

   

   The Import profile section of route into current route option is only available when the following requirements are met:

   • A station point of an existing route or the route itself needs to be selected when you activate the Import Route tool.
   • The existing route you have imported must consist of individual sections.

   After you have selected the Import profile section of route into current route option, you can only enter the file name of the relevant profile section. Select the file name of a longitudinal profile section you have created and saved in Allplan’s Digital Terrain Model module, for example.

   Note: If the route profile does not match the route in plan, the route profile is adjusted.

5. If necessary, enable the Import profile section of route option and select the file name of a longitudinal profile section, which you have created and saved in the Digital Terrain Model module, for example.

   Note: If the route profile does not match the route in plan, the program adjusts the route profile.

6. Click OK to confirm the dialog box.

   The system indicates how many route sections you have imported.
