Envelope surface, parameters

Tool(s): Define Surfaces + Modify Surfaces

Select component (optional)

Catalog ...

You can select a component from a catalog provided by the thermal insulation program. This component is assigned to the envelope surface you are defining.
The name and values of the selected component are displayed for information.

Note: Please refer to the help and documentation provided with the thermal insulation program to find out how it works.

Project

You can see the project created in the thermal insulation program and the regulations selected for the thermal insulation calculations.

Surface attributes

Name

You can enter a name describing the envelope surface. This name is included in the label as well as in the legend and report, which makes it possible to clearly assign different envelope surfaces of the same surface type.

Inclination/surface entered

You can define the inclination of the envelope surface relative to the horizontal. When components are transferred from the thermal insulation program, wall and window areas are automatically given an angle of 90.00° whereas base and roof areas are given an angle of 0.00°.

In the case of inclined areas, such as roofs, which are not displayed at their actual size in elevation and/or plan, you need to specify the inclination and the view (elevation or plan) in which this area is entered. The program automatically calculates the actual size of the area based on these entries.

Default settings

Inclination: 0.00°

Tip: Include inclined oriel areas

Hatching

Hatching, pattern, fill

You can specify whether a hatching style, pattern of fill is to be applied to the area.

Border

You can enter a depth of the border for the hatching, pattern or fill.

Orientation

You can define the orientation of the envelope surface. The orientation has no significance for horizontal components. You can select the None setting (please note the special feature relevant to skylights).

In addition to N, S, W and E, you can also select NE, NW, SE and SW.

Reset settings

Clicking this button resets the values in the dialog box back to their defaults (except for the settings in the Hatching area). This way, you can switch component selection off.
