Modifying the properties of documents

Tool(s): List Layout Elements

The properties assigned to layout elements when they were placed can be modified later. You can also modify several layout elements in a single step.

To modify the properties of documents

1. Click List Layout Elements (How).
   

   Activate List Layout Elements in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Change Layout

   • Toolbar: Basic Tools Layout flyout
   • Palette: Tools Change area in the following module(s):

   Layout

2. Select the documents you want to list.
   

   • To select a single element, click it.
   • To select elements in a region, use the left mouse button to open a selection rectangle around the elements you want to select
   • To include all the elements in the current document, click All in the Input options or press CTRL+A. Please note that this option is not available for all tools.

   For more information on the options available for selecting elements in Allplan, see Selecting elements, overview.

   When selecting elements, you can use the Filter Assistant to apply a filter based on element types and/or properties. For more information, see Filter Assistant.

3. Click a column head to sort the layout elements in the column by different types of information.
   

   Allplan displays the following information. You can modify some data.

   • Drawing file number or number of the NDW file and document type
   • Drawing file name or path of the NDW file
   • Associated layout window
   • Scale and angle used for placing the elements in the layout
   • Print set and drawing type
   • Font factor
   • Superordinate pen, line and color defined
   • Display of surface elements
   • Text direction

   This disables the Sequence as in layout option.

4. Modify the layout elements' properties in one of the following ways:
   • Click an entry in the columns 4 to 13 to modify a single property of the selected layout element.
   • Click a layout element with the right mouse button and, on the shortcut menu, select Properties to modify several properties of the selected layout element.
     You can replace the layout element by clicking the button beside the document name. The new layout element is placed so that it is congruent.
   • Select several layout elements by clicking an entry in the first three columns. Then press and hold down the CTRL and SHIFT keys and click an entry in the columns 4 to 13 of the layout element you selected last. Now you can modify exactly this property of all the selected layout elements.
     When you change the element visibility based on layers using the Layer/print set column, the different drawing types of the individual layout elements remain unchanged unless you explicitly select a common drawing type.
   • Select several layout elements by clicking an entry in the first three columns. Then click any entry of a layout element with the right mouse button and, on the shortcut menu, select Properties. Now you can modify several properties of the selected layout elements.
5. Click OK to confirm the settings.
   

Notes:

• You can use Load favorite on the shortcut menu or in the Properties dialog box to retrieve (and, if you want, modify) the settings of one or more layout elements you have saved as a favorite file. You can use Save as favorite to save all the settings of the current layout element (with the exception of the angle) as a favorite file.
• Congruent layout elements of which you want to modify the Scale or Angle should always be selected together. This way, you can ensure that they are still congruent after modification. To do this, it is best to list the documents separately.
• In the list you can use the SHIFT key to select a range of adjacent layout elements and the CTRL key to select a series of non-adjacent layout elements.
  To select all layout elements, open the shortcut menu of any layout element and click Select All.
• Layout elements within a layout window must always have the same scale and angle. If you change one of these properties of a layout element which is assigned to a layout window, all the other not selected layout elements of this layout window are updated automatically.
• When you have predefined the color of a layout element, this color is always used for printing, regardless of the setting of Color stands for pen in Show/Hide.
