Convert view to 2D

Module(s): Associative Views

You can use the Convert View to 2D tool to convert individual elements of a view or entire views to non-associative design entities and text. For example, you can indicate connection components without creating references to the model data.

To convert view elements to non-associative, general-purpose elements

1. Click Convert View to 2D (How).
   

   Activate Convert View to 2D in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Create Engineering Views, Details Associative Views

   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   Associative views

2. Select the elements of a view or section you want to convert. To select entire views or sections, click the view border.
   

   • To select a single element, click it.
   • To select elements in a region, use the left mouse button to open a selection rectangle around the elements you want to select
   • To include all the elements in the current document, click All in the Input options or press CTRL+A. Please note that this option is not available for all tools.

   When selecting elements, you can use the Filter Assistant to apply a filter based on element types and/or properties. For more information, see Filter Assistant.

3. Click the starting point for the move (this function moves the converted elements to a different place in the workspace).
4. Click the end point for the move.
   Use the data entry tools to assist you.
5. Convert more elements or press ESC to quit the tool.
   

Note: The format properties of the converted elements remain unchanged.
