Measuring the surface of a DTM
Measure
You can use this tool to measure the overall surface area of a DTM or just portions of it.
To measure the surface area of a DTM
- Click the DTM.
The overall surface area is displayed as a value in the Measured values dialog box. If an exterior boundary has been defined, only the area of the region delimited by this boundary is displayed.
- To measure a partial surface of the DTM, confirm the Measured values dialog box by clicking OK and then enter a polyline to define the partial surface.
The points you enter are interpolated in the grid and the surface area is returned as a value in the Measured values dialog box.
- Do the following:
- Click Set precision to specify the decimal places for the values returned. The values are rounded off accordingly.
- Click to place the measurement result as text (only possible if you have not selected the measurement tool while another tool is active).
- Click one of the values to use it for a tool or for the calculator.
- Click and then, in the dialog box, click a value to copy it to the Clipboard.
- Click OK to measure another element.
- Click Cancel to quit the measurement tool.
