Inserting SmartParts

Module(s): SmartParts + SmartParts library

You can use the Insert SmartPart tool to select existing SmartPart files in SMT format and place them in the workspace. You can change the parameters of the SmartPart when you place it. Alternatively, you can also select SmartParts in the SmartParts library of the Library palette.

To select a SmartPart and place it in the workspace

  1. Click Insert SmartPart (How).
  2. Select the folder and the file in SMT format and click Open.

The SmartPart is attached to the crosshairs.

  3. Click in the workspace to place the SmartPart.
A number of tools is provided in the Input Options to help you do this.

You can use the palette of the handles to change the properties of SmartParts. If the format properties are not defined in the SmartPart itself, the settings on the Format toolbar are used.

  4. Press ESC to finish.

A copy of the SmartPart you selected last is attached to the crosshairs.

  5. Place more SmartParts or press ESC to quit the tool.

Note: When you make changes (size, surface color and so on) in the dialog box while placing a SmartPart, these changes are retained and presented the next time you select this SmartPart. The changed settings are saved as *.smv files in the temporary folder of the user. This is usually the ...\Users\Windows_username\AppData\Local\Nemetschek\Allplan\2015\tmp folder. You can delete the default settings manually or using the cleanstd hotline tool in the Services application.

Note: Double-click a SmartPart or select Properties on the shortcut menu to modify existing SmartParts using dialog boxes and handles.
