Entering envelope surfaces

Module(s): Thermal Insulation

You can enter the areas enveloping a building using the Define Areas tool. To do this, you can use the 2D data of floor plans and elevations as a basis. DXF-format files can also be imported.

As you define the surfaces, you can specify component-independent attributes such as orientation, for example. The surfaces defined can be immediately assigned to a specific, individual component or you can do this later in an external calculation program after having transferred the data to this program.

Enter the surfaces as you would a polyline. Surfaces placed above existing surfaces cut ‘through’ them.
As you cannot create several definitions for one surface, you need to define the surfaces for the floor area and the roof separately.

Using the tools for modifying hatching, patterns and fills (in the Draft module), you can modify surfaces, cut out regions from existing surfaces as well as split and merge surfaces at a later stage.
