Entering areas using architectural walls

Tool(s): Define Areas

When you define base areas and ceilings for a floor plan containing architectural walls, you need to take the following settings into account.

Drawing file status

If the architectural walls are in a drawing file open in edit or reference mode, the wall areas are always included.
But if the architectural walls are in the same drawing file/NDW-format file in which you are about to enter the areas, the element interaction set and the priority rating of the wall control whether the wall areas are to be taken into account or not.

Element interaction in Options, Components

When element interaction is set to Off, the wall areas are always included.
With the Dynamic or Static setting, however, whether the wall areas are taken into account or not depends on the wall's priority rating.

Priority rating of the architectural wall

When the Dynamic element interaction option is enabled and the architectural walls have a priority rating of ”0”, the wall areas are included. The same applies for the Static option when the priority rating is <= "3".
When the priority rating is greater than these values, the areas of the architectural walls are ignored when the envelope surfaces are calculated.

Example

Note: Envelope surfaces are calculated in the same way as floor area in compliance with DIN 277.
