Outdoor object

You can use the Outdoor Object tool to define symbols as outdoor objects.

To define a symbol as an outdoor object

1. Click Outdoor Object (How).
   

   Activate Outdoor Object in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Create Terrain Landscaping

   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   Landscaping

   • Configuration: Landscaping/Urban Planning Landscaping flyout

   The Symbols library opens.

2. Open the folder with the symbol you want to retrieve and select the symbol.

   Tip: Use Find to scan the current folder for specific symbols.

   Note: Use View in the Preview or Selection area to define the view for the preview. The view is independent of the view set in the viewport.

3. In the Font size area, you can define how text in the symbol is to behave.
4. Double-click the preview.
5. Place the symbol.
   A number of tools are provided in the input options to help you place SmartParts.

   Note: Click Attrib in the input options to enter attributes for the outdoor object.

6. Label the new outdoor object:
   • Click Toggle to change the text parameters.
   • Click Label Style if you want to use a label style for the label.
     Select the Outdoor objects label style in the Landscaping subfolder.
   • Use the tools in the input options to assist you.
     

     In the input options click

     • Horiz
       to place the label so that it is horizontal.
     • Vertic
       to place the label so that it is vertical.
     • Angle
       to place the label at an angle.
     • Auto (not with Component Number)
       to place the label so that it automatically reflects the geometry of the selected component (important for window labels with label styles).
     • Resize (not with Component Number)
       to change the size of the label. Enter a factor in the dialog line.
     • Skip (not with Component Number)
       lets you skip the current element.
     • Go (not with Elevation Point)
       to automatically assign labels to all the selected elements. The start point for the text is positioned in the element’s centroid or, in the case of stairs, at the bottom.
7. Repeat steps 2 through 6 to place more outdoor objects. Otherwise, click Cancel or press ESC to quit the tool.
