Raise 3D Elements

Digital Terrain Model

You can use the Raise 3D Elements tool to raise 3D solids to the height of the terrain.

To raise 3D elements

1. Click Raise 3D Elements (How).
   

   Activate Raise 3D Elements in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Modify Terrain Digital Terrain Model

   • Palette: Tools Change area in the following module(s):

   Digital Terrain Model

2. Click the DTM.
3. Select the 3D elements to be raised. The elements must be fully bounded by the DTM.
   

   • To select a single element, click it.
   • To select elements in a region, use the left mouse button to open a selection rectangle around the elements you want to select
   • To include all the elements in the current document, click All in the Input options or press CTRL+A. Please note that this option is not available for all tools.

   When selecting elements, you can use the Filter Assistant to apply a filter based on element types and/or properties. For more information, see Filter Assistant.

4. Specify the height to which the 3D elements are to be raised by:
   • entering the height at the keyboard.
   • clicking a point in the DTM. The solid is raised to this height.
   • clicking Min, Max or Mean in the Input options. The height is then calculated as follows:
     For the 3D solids, the height in the terrain is calculated in all the corners. Depending on what you selected, the 3D solids are raised to the minimum, maximum or mean height. This is done separately for all the solids belonging to the same entity group.
