Module(s): Frame Construction: Rafters, Roof Beams, Posts

You can use the Post tool to create posts.

To create a post

1. Click Post (How).
   

   Activate Post in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Create Architecture Frame Construction: Rafters, Roof Beams, Posts

   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   Rafter Design: Rafters, Roof Beams, Posts

   • Configuration: Architecture Frame Construction flyout
2. If you want, you can now modify the post parameters.
   Use one of the following options provided on the Context toolbar.
   

   • Click Properties to set the parameters in a dialog box.
   • Click Match Properties to copy the settings form an existing element.
   • Click Load favorite to select saved parameter combinations.
3. Specify the post’s drop-in point by
   • clicking a point in plan

   or

   • clicking a point in isometric view.

     Note: The program displays a preview of the post after you have defined the prop-in point. You can change the position of the post using anchor point for preview.

     

     In the icon, click to place the transport point.

     With openings (for instance doors and windows) only the following options are available:

     

4. Depending on the viewport in which you have defined the post’s drop-in point, do the following:
   • If you defined the position of the post in a 2D viewport (plan view), the bottom level and then the top level of the post have to be assigned.
     To do this, click a point in elevation or perspective view or in a plane or enter a height in the dialog line.

   or

   • If you defined the position of the post in isometric view, you need to enter the top level of the post. Click a point in isometric view, click a plane or enter the height in the dialog line.

     Note: When you click a plane, the height of the post is adjusted to the height of the plane at the point where you place the post.

5. Press ESC to quit the tool.
