Downstand beam, upstand beam

Module(s): Basic: Walls, Openings, Components

You can use the Downstand Beam, Upstand Beam tool to place downstand beams and upstand beams in slabs and walls.

To create a downstand beam or upstand beam

1. Click Downstand Beam, Upstand Beam (How).
   

   Activate Downstand Beam, Upstand Beam in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Create Architecture Basic: Walls, Openings, Components

   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   Basic: Walls, Openings, Components

   • Configuration: Architecture Architectural Components flyout
2. If you want, you can now modify the beam's parameters.
   Several options are provided on the context toolbar for this.
   

   • Click Properties to set the parameters in a dialog box.
   • Click Match Properties to copy the settings form an existing element.
   • Click Load favorite to select saved parameter combinations.
3. On the Downstand Beam, Upstand Beam Context toolbar, select a component type:
   • Straight Component
   • Rectangular Component
   • Curved Component
   • Circular Component
   • Polygonal Component (Inscribed)
   • Polygonal Component (Circumscribed)
   • Entity-Based Component
   • Spline-Based Component

Note: For more information, click a wall type.

Note: Beams with custom cross-sections are analyzed on the dimensions of the 3D cubes that enclose the beams.

Note: You can only use rectangular cross-sections for curved and spline-based components.
