Recess, opening in slab

You can use the Recess, Opening in Slab to insert recesses and openings in slabs and plates. You can choose between a rectangular, round, polygonal (inscribed or circumscribed) and free-form opening. In addition, you can select an opening from the symbol catalog. Slab recesses can be inserted from the top or bottom.

Tip: Modifying shape of recesses and openings in slabs/plates (based on initial settings)

To create a slab opening

  1. Click Recess, Opening in Slab (How).
  2. Click the slab/plate in which the opening is to be inserted.
  3. If you want, you can now change the type and the parameters of the opening.
    Several options are provided on the context toolbar for this.
  4. Set the opening's anchor point.

    Tip: You can rotate rectangular openings before you place them by using a shortcut or clicking in the dialog line and entering a cursor snap angle at the keyboard.

  5. Depending on the shape of the opening, do the following:
  6. Repeat steps 2 to 5 to draw more recesses or openings in slabs or plates. Otherwise, press ESC to quit the tool.
