Elevation point

Various modules in the Architecture family

You can use the Elevation Point tool to determine the height of an architectural component and place an elevation symbol with a label.

To determine the height of an architectural component

1. Click Elevation Point (How).
   

   Activate Elevation Spec in one of the following ways

   • Menu bar: Create Architecture General: Roofs, Planes, Sections

   • Palette: Tools Create area in the following module(s):

   General: Roofs, Planes, Sections

   Basic: Walls, Openings, Components

   Special: Walls, Openings, Components

   Rooms, Surfaces, Stories

   Stairs

   • Configuration: Architecture Architecture Edit flyout
   • Configuration: Landscaping/Urban Planning Modifications flyout
2. Click an architectural element in the plan.

   Note: When several architectural elements overlap and the program cannot clearly identify the element at the point clicked, it automatically selects the Selection Option for Ambiguous Elements on the Filter Assistant toolbar.

3. To set the parameters for the label on the Elevation Point toolbar, do the following:
   • Click Toggle to change the text parameters.
   • Click Match Properties if you want to use a label style you have already placed.
   • Click Label Style if you want to use a label style for the label.
   • Click Back to Default Label if you do not wish to use the label style.
   • With Mark (top level) you can select a symbol for the top level.
   • With Mark (bottom level) you can select a symbol for the bottom level.
   • With Delta Offset (top) you can enter the delta offset to the top level.
   • With Delta Offset (bottom) you can enter the delta offset to the bottom level.
   • Using Format, you can set the number of leading digits and decimal places for the top and bottom level.
4. Click in the workspace to position the label; use the tools in the input options.
   

   In the input options click

   • Horiz
     to place the label so that it is horizontal.
   • Vertic
     to place the label so that it is vertical.
   • Angle
     to place the label at an angle.
   • Auto (not with Component Number)
     to place the label so that it automatically reflects the geometry of the selected component (important for window labels with label styles).
   • Resize (not with Component Number)
     to change the size of the label. Enter a factor in the dialog line.
   • Skip (not with Component Number)
     lets you skip the current element.
   • Go (not with Elevation Point)
     to automatically assign labels to all the selected elements. The start point for the text is positioned in the element’s centroid or, in the case of stairs, at the bottom.
